About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to lead our Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility efforts as the Head of Sustainability and CSR. This is a key role within our Corporate Affairs department, reporting directly to the Head of Corporate Affairs.

As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our Sustainability strategy, ensuring alignment with our business goals and objectives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive sustainability initiatives and ensure effective communication with stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sustainability and corporate responsibility, with experience in developing and implementing sustainability strategies. You will have excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement our Sustainability strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
  2. Lead cross-functional teams to drive sustainability initiatives and ensure effective communication with stakeholders.
  3. Provide sustainability-related counsel to the Board, including performance updates, risks/opportunities, and market developments.
  4. Empower the business to support and advocate positive change through proactive engagement and fostering a culture of sustainability.
  5. Identify and develop key sustainability programs to deliver against business goals and commitments.
  6. Act as a figurehead for sustainability across the business, embedding positive culture and best practice, and externally with key CSR stakeholders.
  7. Represent Lidl GB on sustainability positions at external events.
  8. Oversee the delivery of sustainability-related communication, both internal and external.
  9. Lead and chair the strategic CSR steering committee, defining key objectives, prioritized action, and Board engagement.
Requirements
  1. Strong leadership skills with experience in building high-performing and professional teams.
  2. Strategic thinker with the company strategy at the heart of all decisions.
  3. Experience managing multiple projects concurrently, within tight deadlines.
  4. The confidence and ability to come up with new ideas and present new strategies to seniors within the business.
  5. Flexibility to meet changing deadlines and managing the consequences of these changes.
  6. Strong computer skills, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  7. Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to persuade and convince others.
  8. Excellent communication skills and able to deliver relevant detail effectively and understandably.
  9. Flexible to travel throughout the UK and internationally.
  10. German language skills would be advantageous.
