About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ward Manager to lead our orthopaedic nursing team at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Leadership
    • Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
    • Lead and manage a team of nurses to provide effective patient care and services.
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Staff Management
    • Recruit, train, and develop nursing staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality patient care.
    • Manage staff performance and provide constructive feedback to improve performance.
    • Ensure staff are aware of and adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Quality Improvement
    • Identify areas for quality improvement and develop strategies to address these areas.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of quality improvement initiatives.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure quality improvement initiatives are aligned with hospital goals.
  • Education and Training
    • Develop and implement education and training programs for nursing staff.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure education and training programs are aligned with hospital goals.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of education and training programs.
Requirements
  • Qualifications
    • Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
    • Postgraduate qualification in nursing or a related field.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 4 years' experience as a nurse in an orthopaedic setting.
    • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a leadership or management role.
  • Skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to lead and manage a team of nurses.
    • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of orthopaedic nursing.
    • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
