About the Role

Catshill Village Surgery is seeking a dedicated and compassionate General Practice Nurse to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a crucial role in providing primary care services to our patients and assisting in the delivery of clinical care within our practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct general nursing duties such as wound care, immunizations, health screening, and QOF.
  • Assist with minor surgery and coil fittings, depo injections, and pill checks.
  • Request pathology tests, such as urine culture and swab, and test urine samples.
  • Support the Nurse Manager in maintaining stock of waiting room leaflets and ordering.
  • Attend practice meetings when required.
  • Administer medications and injections as prescribed by healthcare providers.
  • Assist physicians during clinical procedures and examinations.
  • Provide health education and counselling to patients on various health-related topics.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with practice protocols.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver comprehensive care to patients.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse qualification with a valid nursing license NMC.
  • Maintain own professional and personal development in accordance with the NMC Code (2008), standards, and professional guidelines.
  • Experience in chronic disease management, desirable diabetes, respiratory.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of practice contracts and SNOMED coding.
  • Strong IT skills and knowledge of clinical systems such as EMIS Web, Docman, AccuRx, and ICE.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience working within a nursing team.
  • Previous experience in a primary care or general practice setting.
