Expeditors is seeking a highly skilled Customs Brokerage Lead Agent to join our team. As a key member of our Customs Brokerage Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and timely movement of freight while providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure compliance with customs legislation, including classification, valuation, and origin.
- Coordinate with customers and government agencies to resolve any issues related to customs clearance.
- Monitor shipment reports to ensure total customer satisfaction.
- Support the Supervisor in workload allocation, monitoring workboards, and ensuring internal KPIs are met.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and government agencies.
- Assist in retention calls and complete customer reviews to document in the CRM.
- Monitor customs refunds by customs authorities using BNP reports where necessary.
- Communicate proactively with the team to ensure continuous awareness and understanding of policies and regulations.
- Be a guide for the team, mentoring agents and ensuring a positive attitude is maintained.
- Allocate workloads within the team to ensure smooth operations during peak activity or staff absence.
- Promote productivity tools within the team, such as customsware, invoice processing, and expo customs.
- Good knowledge of customs brokerage processes and customs legislation.
- Understanding of ocean, road, and air documentation processes.
- Effective interpersonal skills and a proactive approach.
- Strong organizational and computer skills, including proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word.
- Fluent in English.
