Job Summary

The Head of Commercial role at Gleeson Development Ltd is a critical position that requires a seasoned professional to lead the development and implementation of the regional commercial strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving commercial performance, ensuring efficient cost control, and maximizing regional profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership to the commercial function, ensuring the commercial team works collaboratively to deliver best practice oversight and control.

• Develop and implement strategies to improve commercial performance, focusing on key metrics such as Gross Margin, Annualized Cost Increases, Return on Investment, and Maximum Expenditure.

• Work closely with the Group Commercial Director and Regional Managing Director to develop and implement strategies for improving regional commercial activity, maximizing opportunities for profit optimization, and enhancing the Region's and Group's ability to meet Business Plans and growth expectations.

• Manage the procurement and control of subcontractor services and suppliers, ensuring compliance with Group policies and processes.

• Provide regular updates to the Regional Managing Director and senior team on commercial performance, highlighting areas for improvement and recommending strategies to mitigate risks.

• Lead by example, upholding Gleeson values and inspiring others to become role models in implementing, upholding, and promoting the Gleeson model and culture.

Requirements:

• A relevant qualification or good experience in Commercial Management

• Proficient in COINS, Microsoft Excel, and Word packages

• Extensive understanding of the financial implications of the methods and sequences of build

• Extensive Finance/Commercial awareness & Technical knowledge

• Extensive knowledge of the Construction Industry

• Extensive knowledge of commercial and financial management systems and controls

• Broad awareness of codes of practice that impact on commercial matters, e.g., Building Regulations, NHBC requirements, HSE, etc.
