Job Title: Head of Transport

JD Group is a leading omni-channel retailer of Sports Fashion, Outdoors, and Gyms with over 60,000 colleagues and over 3,400 stores across several retail fascias in over 30 markets around the world.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Transport to lead our outbound logistics operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the transportation of goods from our warehouses to customers and colleagues in stores, ensuring timely and efficient delivery while minimizing costs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Transport Team and Outsourced Partners to achieve operational excellence and improve service levels.
  • Develop and implement a continuous improvement plan to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of our transportation operations.
  • Work closely with the JD IT Team to select and implement a Transportation Management System (TMS) and Carrier Management System (CMS).
  • Collaborate with the JD Group Procurement Team to negotiate and manage transportation contracts with external providers.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as lead time, accuracy, and cost.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in supply chain and transportation management, with a strong understanding of logistics operations and transportation management systems.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team.
  • Commercially aware and strategic thinker, with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to travel as required within the UK and Europe.
