Job Summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Neonatologist to join our innovative and dynamic Neonatal Intensive Care Service. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a talented team of healthcare professionals and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing and supervising medical care to neonates within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), postnatal wards, and neonatal clinics. They will also support the care of neonates within other areas of the Trust, working collaboratively with colleagues within subspecialties, Obstetrics, Midwifery, and the Fetal Medicine service.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver clinical excellence within the speciality of Neonatal Medicine
  • Provide and supervise medical care to neonates within the NICU, postnatal wards, and neonatal clinics
  • Support the care of neonates within other areas of the Trust
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within subspecialties, Obstetrics, Midwifery, and the Fetal Medicine service
  • Participate in an on-call rota in conjunction with the existing team to provide Consultant cover to the Neonatal Service and the Neonatal transport service
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a CCT in Neonates or equivalent experience as defined by the Neonatal CSAC. They will also have a strong knowledge base and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems. Advanced skills in Neonatal Medicine, Neonatal Surgical experience, and knowledge and training in Child Protection are essential.
