Job Title: Consultant Neonatologist

University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Neonatologist to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our Neonatal Intensive Care Service, you will be responsible for delivering clinical excellence in neonatal medicine and providing high-quality care to our patients.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a leading NHS trust, providing tertiary neonatal services to medical and surgical neonates. You will be part of a team of 11 WTE neonatologists, working in a 38-bed NICU with 800 admissions per year. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver clinical excellence, be motivated and adaptable to changes within the NHS, and have a drive to improve patient care and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide and supervise medical care to neonates within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), postnatal wards, and neonatal clinics.
  • Support the care of neonates within other areas of the Trust, working collaboratively with colleagues within subspecialties, Obstetrics, Midwifery, and the Fetal Medicine service.
  • Participate in an on-call rota in conjunction with the existing team to provide Consultant cover to the Neonatal Service and the Neonatal transport service.
Requirements
  • CCT in Neonates or equivalent experience as defined by the Neonatal CSAC.
  • Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems.
  • Wide neonatal intensive care experience, including experience of working within a neonatal service with a high-risk prenatal/obstetric referral centre.
  • Advanced skills in Neonatal Medicine.
  • Neonatal Surgical experience.
  • Knowledge and training in Child Protection.
