Podiatrist - High-Risk Service Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Podiatrist to join our Bexley Podiatry Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing assessment and treatment to clients in community and outreach clinics, hospitals, clients' homes, health centers, care homes, and day centers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Client Assessment and Treatment: Provide a full range of podiatry treatments to clients, including wound dressings, scalpel debridement of nail and soft tissue pathology, and care of foot problems resulting from neglect and lack of self-care.
  2. Treatment Planning and Discharge: Develop treatment plans and discharge plans through an agreed contract with each client, and follow through the treatment plan with an end result of improved foot pathology and discharge where appropriate.
  3. Specialist Team Collaboration: Participate in the work of specialist teams when and where required, undertaking a high-risk patient caseload. Rotate through the three Podiatric Specialist teams (wound care, musculoskeletal, and surgical) to constantly update clinical skills and knowledge to a high standard.
  4. Client Protection and Referral: Be responsible for the protection of health and wellbeing of all clients. Alert others to concerns where protection may be required for both children and vulnerable adults. Appropriately refer clients to specialist teams within the department whenever needed and refer clients within primary care, community, or acute for investigation, diagnosis, or treatment.
  5. Complex Health Needs Management: Deal sensitively and appropriately with a client caseload with complex health needs, assisting individuals to manage their health needs effectively.
  6. Multi-Disciplinary Approach: Work within primary, secondary, and community care teams to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to improvement of foot pathology.
Requirements

This position requires a car and involves regular travel throughout the Boroughs of Bexley to different clinic sites and to visit patients in their own homes and care and nursing homes.
