Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmology Specialist to join our team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Medical Consultant, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients and contributing to the development of our Ophthalmology services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality care to patients with a range of ophthalmic conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, and other eye diseases.
  • Share responsibility for providing 24/7 cover for the Ophthalmology Unit on a rota basis, ensuring that patients receive timely and effective care.
  • Provide clinical supervision to junior medical and dental practitioners, helping them to develop their skills and expertise.
  • Contribute to the development of our Ophthalmology services, including the formulation and monitoring of our Business Plan.
  • Comply with Trust infection prevention and control policies, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
Requirements
  • Full Registration with the GMC and a place on the GMC Ophthalmology Specialist Register.
  • Wide experience in all aspects of Ophthalmology, including cataract surgery and glaucoma management.
  • Advanced subspecialty training in Glaucoma and a strong understanding of the principles of medical audit.
  • Experience of clinical research and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a passion for sharing knowledge and expertise with others.
