Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced personal assistant to support our 15-year-old daughter with a spinal cord injury. The successful candidate will provide personal care, companionship, and social support to enhance her independence and quality of life.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including pad changing, showering, dressing, and intimate care
- Assist with moving and handling, using transfer boards and hoists as needed
- Support access to interests and activities at home and in the community
- Assist with everyday tasks, such as meal preparation, shopping, and getting ready for bed/day
- Monitor and support healthcare needs, as required
- Encourage learning of new skills and development of confidence and independence
- Provide companionship and social support
Requirements
- Experience in personal care and moving and handling
- Ability to relate well to a teenage girl and provide emotional support
- Kind, patient, and understanding approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliability and flexibility
- Full, clean driving license and own car (desirable)
Working Arrangements
The successful candidate will work 6 hours per week, with flexible hours to be negotiated. The role may include some weekends and evenings, to be arranged to meet the needs of the individual.
Benefits
The successful candidate will receive a competitive hourly rate of £12.40 and the opportunity to make a positive impact on the life of a young woman with a spinal cord injury.
