(90a8e4bc) We are seeking a compassionate and reliable female personal assistant to support our 15-year-old daughter with a spinal cord injury. The ideal candidate will be able to provide personal care, social support, and companionship for 6 hours per week. Hours are flexible and can be negotiated to meet her needs.

Wages: £12.40 (gross) per hour at all times.

Our daughter requires support with personal care, including pad changing, showering, and dressing. She also needs assistance with moving and handling, using a transfer board and hoist. The successful candidate will be able to develop a good bond with our daughter and provide emotional support and companionship.

Additional tasks may include supporting her to visit places away from home, which would require a full clean driving licence and own car.

Key Responsibilities

§ Personal care, including pad changing, showering, and dressing
§ Moving and handling, using a transfer board and hoist
§ Supporting her to access interests both at home and in the community
§ Supporting with everyday tasks, such as meal preparation and getting ready for bed/day
§ Supporting and monitoring her healthcare needs where required
§ Supporting the learning of new skills and developing confidence and independence

Essential Skills

· Friendly, warm, and outgoing with the ability to relate well to a teenage girl
· Kind, patient, understanding, and empathetic, particularly to those struggling with anxiety
· Reliable, approachable, and an excellent communicator
· Encouraging and supportive
§ Moving and Handling trained
§ Experience of carrying out personal care tasks (preferably with those of a similar age)

Desirable Skills

§ A full, clean driving licence and own car
§ Experience in gastrostomy care and tracheostomy care
§ Experience of working with children of a similar age
