Job Description

Customs and Import Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Customs and Import Specialist to join our team at KC Recruitment. Our client is a well-established business with a strong reputation for excellence in the import and export industry.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working in customs administration, with a strong understanding of customs rules and regulations. They will be responsible for managing freight bookings, preparing customs documents, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with national and international suppliers and agents to arrange freight deliveries and collections between ports, airports, and warehouses
  • Manage freight bookings using a CDS computer Declarations system
  • Prepare customs documents for shipment and ensure compliance with relevant standards
  • Transfer documents to customs brokers and ensure technical and administrative liaison for the movement of goods
  • Check that tax and customs documents are correct and handle invoices and payments
  • Arrange for the shipment of goods into and/or out of the country and prepare and process all necessary documentation
  • Track shipments and ensure the distribution of goods

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in customs administration, import and export, logistics, and transportation
  • Strong knowledge of customs rules and regulations, including customs declarations, import/export laws, and paperwork
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work on a variety of tasks until the job is done and good customer service experience
  • Car owner/driver is required due to location
