About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal/Associate Director Town Planner to join our Planning and Environment Team in Birmingham. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for shaping and assessing the case for development projects, including determining planning strategies, preparing planning applications, and coordinating various technical teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Lead and manage planning projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Planning Strategy: Develop and implement planning strategies for development projects, including site appraisals, community consultation, and liaison with stakeholders.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise and advise junior team members, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, building relationships with clients and stakeholders to drive growth and revenue.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise and advice on planning and land use to clients, including local planning authorities, developers, and land promoters.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Chartered Town Planner with a good Town Planning degree or related qualification.
  • Experience: Proven experience in preparing planning applications for the public and/or private sector, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality results.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical and written skills, strong team working ethic, and IT literacy in Microsoft Office, Excel, and GIS.
  • Personal Qualities: Strong planning and organizing skills, ability to manage time and workload effectively, and a proven ability to problem-solve and work under pressure.
