The Role: Data Protection Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated Data Protection Specialist to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring that SSE Enterprise adheres to all relevant data protection regulations and best practices. You will be responsible for providing expert guidance and support on a wide range of data protection matters, including:

  • GDPR Compliance: Implementing and maintaining robust processes to ensure compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This includes conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), managing subject access requests, and responding to data breach incidents.
  • Environmental Information Regulations: Managing and coordinating responses to detailed environmental information requests under the Environmental Information Regulations.
  • Data Protection Training and Awareness: Developing and delivering training programs to raise awareness of data protection principles and best practices across the organization.
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Contributing to the development and implementation of data protection policies and procedures that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Your Skills and Experience:

To be successful in this role, you will possess a strong understanding of data protection principles and legislation. You will have experience in:

  • Conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
  • Managing subject access requests
  • Developing and implementing data protection policies and procedures
  • Providing training and awareness on data protection best practices

A qualified auditor / experienced professional / legal background with relevant post qualification experience or qualified from having significant relevant company/industry and relevant up to date experience in a similar Assurance role would be highly advantageous.
