The Aberdeen City Council is seeking a highly skilled Information Governance Officer to join our team. As an Information Governance Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective management of information across the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert advice and support on information governance and data protection matters to various stakeholders.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate information governance risks.
- Manage and lead multi-disciplinary teams to achieve information governance objectives.
- Monitor and contribute to budget setting processes to ensure effective resource allocation.
- Qualified to postgraduate level in a relevant law/information management/information governance related discipline.
- Significant equivalent experience and a willingness to work towards a specialist postgraduate qualification.
- Expert knowledge of Data Protection & Public Records law.
- Good understanding of information technology systems and security.
- Good understanding of the local authority context, its partners and associated legal framework and data processing activities.
- Good understanding of risk management principles.
- A high level of personal integrity and professional ethics.
- The ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- The ability to communicate clearly and confidently at all levels.
- Demonstrable ability in negotiating and influencing and the ability to shape organisational culture.
