R&D Tax Relief Specialist

RSM is seeking a highly motivated and experienced R&D Tax Relief Specialist to join our growing Central Region tax team.

In this role, you will work directly with IT specialists across various businesses to identify and claim valuable R&D tax incentives. Your expertise in computer science and software development will be crucial in guiding clients through the process of maximizing their R&D tax benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage R&D engagements, ensuring financial accuracy and fostering strong client relationships.
  • Conduct meetings with clients to present our services, discuss their specific needs, and provide tailored fee quotes.
  • Develop and submit comprehensive R&D tax relief claims to HMRC, adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Spearhead interviews with clients' technical teams to thoroughly understand their R&D activities and gather essential project documentation.
  • Prepare clear and concise technical project descriptions and supporting documentation for submission to HMRC.
  • Actively build and maintain internal and external networks to drive business development opportunities within the R&D tax space.
  • Review the work of junior staff, providing constructive feedback and ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and quality.
  • Champion client satisfaction by consistently delivering exceptional service and exceeding expectations.

About You:

  • Possess a Computer Science degree with demonstrable experience in the IT industry.
  • Have a deep understanding of the UK's R&D tax incentives framework and HMRC processes.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of successfully preparing and submitting R&D claims to HMRC.
  • Exhibit strong written communication skills, including the ability to effectively respond to HMRC inquiries.
