External Communications Manager

Hanson Search is seeking a highly skilled External Communications Manager to develop and implement effective communications strategies across various organizations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and execute communications plans to engage with economic consultancies, political think tanks, and charity partners.
  2. Write high-quality leadership communications, including speeches, op-eds, comments, briefings, and press releases.
  3. Manage the press office inbox and serve as the primary point of contact for media enquiries.
  4. Build and maintain relationships with media representatives, including specialist publications, national print, online, and broadcast media.
  5. Monitor and evaluate media coverage, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  6. Collaborate with external providers on campaigns and stories.
Requirements:
  1. Excellent writing and editing skills, with a keen news sense and proactive approach.
  2. Ability to distill complex issues into clear communications outputs.
  3. Proven track record in media relations, including story handling and campaign execution.
  4. Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with journalists, stakeholders, and providers.
  5. Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
