Job Title: Health & Safety Manager

We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join our client, a leading manufacturer and wholesaler of FMCG products in the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining health and safety standards across the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Implement Health and Safety Policies: Create and implement health and safety policies and procedures across all sites, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Emergency Planning and Evacuation Procedures: Review and implement emergency planning and evacuation procedures to ensure the safety of employees and visitors.
  • Health and Safety Advice and Guidance: Provide health and safety advice and guidance to all levels of the business, ensuring that employees understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • Risk Assessments and Management Plans: Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management plans, including COSHH assessments, to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Health and Safety Training: Develop and deliver health and safety training programs to ensure that employees have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their jobs safely.
  • Environmental and Sustainability Group Meetings: Chair environmental and sustainability group meetings to ensure that the business is meeting its environmental and sustainability goals.
  • OHAS Assessments and Corrective Actions: Organize and prepare OHAS assessments, working with the team to ensure that corrective actions are taken to address any issues identified.
  • Accident Investigations: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, making recommendations for corrective actions to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
  • Health and Safety Performance Metrics: Monitor and review health and safety performance metrics to ensure that the business is meeting its health and safety goals.
  • Legislation and Industry Best Practices: Stay up-to-date with relevant health and safety legislation and industry best practices, ensuring that the business is compliant with all relevant regulations.
  • External Agencies and Stakeholders: Work with external agencies and stakeholders on health and safety issues, ensuring that the business is meeting its health and safety obligations.
  • Health and Safety Committees: Lead health and safety committees and other relevant forums to ensure that health and safety issues are addressed and resolved.
Requirements:
  • NEBOSH Qualification: Hold a relevant NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent) and have extensive experience in implementing health and safety processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Health and Safety Knowledge: Have a working knowledge of health and safety at work regulations and be able to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
  • Communication Skills: Possess excellent overall communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex health and safety information to employees at all levels.
  • UK Driving License: Hold a UK driving license and be willing to commute to other business locations as required.
  • OHAS Procedures: Have knowledge of OHAS procedures and be able to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
  • Teamwork and IT Skills: Be able to work independently, but as part of a team, and possess very good general IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
