The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team. As an LSA, you will play a vital role in providing individualized support to young people with complex needs, helping them develop academically, socially, and emotionally within a secure environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and in-class support to young people with additional learning needs across the curriculum.
  • Assist in creating an inclusive learning environment where all young people can thrive.
  • Work with teachers and care practitioners to deliver tailored support and monitor progress.
  • Help inspire young people to engage in their learning journey and develop positive behaviors.

About You

We are looking for adaptable, enthusiastic, and experienced candidates with the personal qualities to connect with and support vulnerable children and young people. You will need:

  • Good IT skills, including experience with MS Office, email, and databases.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal).
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently using your own initiative.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, particularly when dealing with challenging behavior.
  • A good understanding of child and adolescent development.
  • Knowledge of restorative practices, trauma-informed approaches, and safeguarding.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
  • Experience working with children or young people in a residential or educational setting.
