Graduate Learning Support Assistant
Location: Cardiff
Are you a recent graduate eager to make a difference in the lives of young learners? If you have a strong desire to assist and guide students through their educational challenges, Teaching Personnel is looking for dedicated and detail-oriented individuals for various Learning Support Assistant (LSA) positions available in the Cardiff region.
Successful candidates will engage with students in Key Stages 3 and 4, where their unique interests and personalities will be matched with those of the pupils they will support. Building a robust working relationship is essential to motivate students to reach their full potential. LSA roles in secondary education will involve providing personalized in-class assistance as well as offering social and emotional support outside the classroom, particularly for students with additional learning needs (ALN) such as Autism, ADHD, and Dyslexia.
No prior experience with ALN? Not to worry, Teaching Personnel offers professional development courses to ensure you are well-prepared for the role.
These positions are full-time and are set to commence in September for the initial term, with the possibility of extending for the entire academic year. Exceptional candidates may even have the opportunity to transition into a permanent role within the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support assigned pupils with their daily requirements, including academic assistance, behavior management, and organizational skills.
- Provide individualized support to students who may need extra help with their academic and social growth.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere where each pupil feels valued, supported, and heard.
- Contribute to the overall school ethos and participate in team meetings and training sessions.
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience as an LSA is advantageous but not mandatory; other childcare experiences, including sports coaching, are also beneficial.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team alongside the ALN Coordinator and other LSAs.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to enhancing the educational experience of every child.
- A current Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the DBS Update Service.
- Annual registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
**Teaching Personnel can assist you with your DBS and EWC applications**
