Position: Senior Actuarial Consultant

Team:
LMRe Actuarial

Employment Type:
Permanent

As a pivotal member of the LM Re team, you will report directly to the Head of Portfolio, Pricing & Analytics. Your primary responsibility will be to enhance actuarial portfolio management, pricing strategies, and analytical processes to drive business performance and growth while achieving operational objectives.

You will leverage your extensive understanding of business implications to significantly influence decision-making processes, providing clear actuarial guidance to senior management and various stakeholders on underwriting, financial, and strategic issues.

Collaborating with the LMRe Actuarial Metaline teams, you will ensure that case pricing, model governance, and strategic planning are effectively delivered to management and underwriting stakeholders, thereby increasing the influence of GRS A&DSS.

Your role will also involve improving underwriting decisions through account pricing, in-depth portfolio analysis, and innovative product development.

Data & Analytics Collaboration:

As a key user of central Management Information (MI), you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate data capture and the design of appropriate underwriting metrics.

The actuarial team will assess business performance and provide management with a comprehensive, risk-based perspective to inform business strategy and risk management.

Your responsibilities will encompass various aspects of actuarial work, including pricing, non-catastrophe parameterization, and business planning.

You will also work closely with other functions to support data & analytics, capital management, exposure management, and reinsurance strategy.

The LM Re actuarial team consists of 19 professionals across multiple locations, forming part of a larger 60-member actuarial team.

Governance and Project Delivery:

You will own the pricing model risk governance framework and ensure project delivery aligns with both internal and external standards.

Your strategic initiatives will enhance the utilization of data and analytics in underwriting decision-making.

You will be responsible for developing pricing tools and delivering next-generation pricing models on advanced platforms as part of the broader underwriting transformation.

Your strategic projects will typically span LMRe, requiring collaboration and leadership in the development and implementation of analytical models that drive competitive advantages.

You will also lead efforts in portfolio management and tools, working with Underwriting Portfolio Managers, Data & Analytics, and Operations to ensure analytical tools facilitate improved decision-making.

Additionally, you will drive the delivery of insightful self-service MI on portfolios, lines of business, and key risks to foster data-driven decisions.

Understanding the external competitive landscape will be essential to enhance LM Re's market position and reputation.

Adherence to relevant regulatory requirements is a fundamental aspect of your role, and demonstrating the behaviors outlined in the Conduct Risk Policy is essential to uphold Liberty Mutual's values.

You should possess relevant experience in general insurance, reinsurance, or consultancy, with the ability to apply a comprehensive range of actuarial skills and business acumen.

A minimum of a 1 or equivalent in a numerate/scientific degree, along with an A/A* in A-Level Maths or equivalent, is required.

Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential for engaging with a diverse range of internal and external clients.

Proficiency in IT, particularly in Excel, SQL, Python, R, PowerPivot, PowerBI, and DAX, is highly desirable.

You will effectively utilize relevant methods, data, and tools to solve technical challenges, communicate complex concepts to varied audiences, draw meaningful conclusions, and make informed recommendations.

A strong desire to learn and expand your expertise will support the delivery of diverse projects and workstreams.

Experience in a non-life commercial (re)insurance pricing team or in predictive modeling and analytics within the (re)insurance sector is advantageous but not mandatory.

Liberty Mutual Reinsurance is part of Global Risk Solutions and the broader Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, a leading global insurer committed to fostering a vibrant and inclusive work environment while promoting career development.

We emphasize diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and believe that collaboration and sharing unique perspectives lead to better decision-making.

Our supportive culture promotes a healthy work-life balance and flexible working arrangements.
