Job Title: Diabetes Specialist Midwife

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diabetes Specialist Midwife to join our team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality, specialist care to women with diabetes during pregnancy.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective care pathways for women with diabetes during pregnancy.
  • Provide education and training to midwives and junior doctors to ensure they are competent to provide care to women with diabetes.
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide clinics for women with gestational diabetes.
  • Act as a point of contact for women with diabetes during pregnancy, ensuring they receive timely and effective care.
  • Hold professional accountability for managing a team of staff delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Requirements:
  • Registered Midwife with significant post-registration experience, including substantial recent experience as a midwife.
  • UK recognised Midwifery degree, or equivalent qualification.
  • Evidence of further professional development.
  • Post-registration qualification in diabetes management, or equivalent relevant experience.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
  • Masters, or evidence of postgraduate study.
  • Experience in managing women with complex pregnancies.
  • Ability to teach in a variety of settings.
  • Proven leadership and managerial capabilities.
Key Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to organise and prioritise.
  • Ability to manage change.
  • Demonstrate ability to influence and motivate clinical practice.
  • Ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to providing holistic, clinically effective care.
