Maths Instructor

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Maths Teacher to join our team at HMP Peterborough. As a Maths Teacher, you will play a vital role in helping prisoners achieve their functional skills qualification in English and Maths.
About the RoleAs a Maths Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing activities and courses to help prisoners achieve their learning goals. You will work closely with prisoners to identify their strengths and weaknesses and develop personalized learning plans to help them progress.
You will also be responsible for monitoring attendance, achievement, and progression of learning, as well as challenging any negative behaviors and increasing prisoners' self-esteem through a self-directed learning/teaching style.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, develop, and implement activities and courses to help prisoners achieve their learning goals
- Work closely with prisoners to identify their strengths and weaknesses and develop personalized learning plans
- Monitor attendance, achievement, and progression of learning
- Challenge any negative behaviors and increase prisoners' self-esteem through a self-directed learning/teaching style
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a teaching qualification in the relevant subject area or experience in a teaching/tutor role. You will also need to have an interest in the rehabilitation of offenders and a flexible and responsive attitude.
You will be proactive, dynamic, and positive at all times, with a willingness to innovate and demonstrate self-motivation. You will also be able to work effectively in a team and communicate effectively with prisoners and colleagues.
