Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Maths Instructor to join our team at HMP Peterborough. As a Maths Instructor, you will play a vital role in helping prisoners achieve their functional skills qualification in English.

Main Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and implement activities and courses to help prisoners achieve their learning goals.
  • Monitor attendance, achievement, and progression of learning, while challenging negative behaviors and increasing prisoners' self-esteem.
  • Work with prisoners who have undiagnosed learning difficulties and neurodivergence, ensuring they feel empowered and confident in their ability to learn.
  • Enjoy year-round education without the constraints of term-based schedules, providing flexibility to take leave throughout the year.
  • Work with smaller class sizes, typically ranging from 6 to 12 students, allowing for a learner-centric approach and customized teaching methods.

Requirements

  • Working towards or achieved a teaching qualification in the relevant subject area or experience in a teaching/tutor role.
  • Interest in the rehabilitation of offenders.
  • Flexible and responsive attitude.
  • Willingness to innovate and demonstrate self-motivation.
  • Proactive, dynamic, and positive at all times.
