Job Overview

CMS2 - Critical Maritime Systems & Support is seeking a highly skilled Test and Commissioning Engineer to join our team in Portsmouth. As a key member of our bespoke engineering solutions side of the business, you will be responsible for providing testing and commissioning services for our air purification equipment to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, configure, and test complex process equipment to ensure compliance with company procedures, customer standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform pneumatic and hydraulic pressure testing of high- and low-pressure vessels under PED compliance.
  • Conduct electrical testing, including low and high voltage circuits, insulation resistance, and earth bond testing, using oscilloscopes to capture analogue and digital signals.
  • Identify and troubleshoot electro-mechanical system faults, and implement problem-solving strategies to improve test methodology and efficiency.
  • Maintain an issues log to document lessons learned and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Travel to various sites across the country to support the UK Nuclear Program (CASD), and occasionally travel abroad to support overseas customers.
  • Adhere to 5S practices and comply with ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
Requirements
  • Hold an NVQ/HNC or higher qualification in engineering or an apprenticeship in a relevant engineering field.
  • Previous test and commissioning experience in a highly regulated industry, such as process engineering.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety, environment, and quality.
  • Ability to read and interpret process engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures.
  • Good hands-on electrical and mechanical skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team and under pressure in a challenging environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Flexibility, enthusiasm, self-motivation, and ability to work well under own initiative.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, sometimes with short notice.
