About the Role

CMS2 - Critical Maritime Systems & Support is seeking a highly skilled Test & Commissioning Engineer to join our team in Portsmouth. As a key member of our bespoke engineering solutions side of the business, you will be responsible for the testing and commissioning of our air purification equipment to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, configure, and test complex process equipment, ensuring compliance with company procedures, customer standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform pneumatic and hydraulic pressure testing of high- and low-pressure vessels under PED compliance.
  • Conduct electrical testing, including low and high voltage circuits, insulation resistance, and earth bond testing, using oscilloscopes to capture analogue and digital signals.
  • Identify and troubleshoot electro-mechanical system faults, implementing solutions to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Develop and refine test methodologies, including prototyping, to optimize equipment performance.
  • Maintain an issues log to track lessons learned and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Travel to various sites across the UK to support the CMS2 UK Nuclear Program and occasionally abroad to support overseas customers.
  • Adhere to 5S practices and comply with ISO 9001 Quality Management System standards.
Requirements
  • Hold an NVQ/HNC or higher qualification in engineering or an apprenticeship in a relevant engineering field.
  • Previous test and commissioning experience in a highly regulated industry, such as process engineering, is preferred.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret process engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures.
  • Good hands-on electrical and mechanical skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team and under pressure in a challenging environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and flexibility.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, sometimes with short notice.
