Position Overview

As a key member of the Adult Renal Care team, the Senior Practitioner Psychologist will provide specialized psychological services tailored to patients and their families affected by renal conditions.

Role Details

This position offers flexibility, with the potential for part-time hours to accommodate the needs of the successful candidate. We also provide Band 7 preceptorships for those who are earlier in their career journey.

The role is designed for both emerging professionals seeking foundational experience and seasoned practitioners stepping into advanced specialist positions. You will collaborate within multidisciplinary teams, engaging with a diverse range of healthcare professionals in both inpatient and outpatient environments.

Remote working options may be available for certain sessions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-informed psychological interventions to patients and their support networks.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of psychological care pathways within the specialty.
  • Provide expert consultation, training, and supervision to multidisciplinary team members on psychological practices, including stepped care and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Manage an independent clinical caseload with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Engage in research, service development, and project initiatives.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities aligned with service objectives and personal growth.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Doctoral level qualification in Practitioner Psychology, accredited by the BPS.
  • Registered as a clinical/counselling/health psychologist with the HCPC.
  • Experience working with diverse client groups in physical health settings.
  • Proficient in cognitive-behavioral approaches within clinical contexts.
  • Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable:

  • Experience in acute medical/surgical trauma environments.
  • Experience in providing supervision and training to others.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential:

  • In-depth knowledge of research methodologies and complex data analysis in clinical psychology.
