About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our team of professionals working with children and young people across Shropshire, including Telford and Wrekin.

Key Responsibilities
  • To provide assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment for service users, working autonomously with appropriate support.
  • To liaise with and refer to other health, education, and social care providers as necessary.
  • To contribute to the development of the Community Service and provide multidisciplinary functions to service users in various settings.
  • To develop professional practice by staying up-to-date with clinical developments and responding to available evidence.
  • To provide coaching, training, information, and advice to parents and other practitioners.
  • To work in a variety of settings and develop skills and knowledge in specialist areas with support from clinical leads and training offered by Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust.

Requirements
  • Occupational Therapy degree or diploma.
  • Current registration with the Health Professions Council.
  • Documented evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Ability to demonstrate a level of English language and grammar commensurate with writing in service user case notes.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary/multi-agency health/social care/educational environment.
  • Experience and knowledge of basic administration systems, including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience of successful partnership working arrangements with other services.
  • Experience of working in the NHS, which may include experience gained on practice placements.
  • Good knowledge of profession-specific core skills and processes.
  • Demonstrate tact and diplomacy.
  • Influencing, engaging, and collaboration skills.
  • Well-refined communication (verbal and written), interpersonal skills - ability to gain rapport at all levels.
  • Engaging and empowering approach that seeks to work with others and deliver outcomes in a successful and well-informed manner.
  • Passion, enthusiasm, and drive to improve services for users.
