About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Occupational Therapist to join our core mental health team as a Band 6 specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to work with children and young people with complex, severe, and persistent emotional wellbeing and mental health problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a complex caseload, including specialist assessment, care planning, and evaluation of individual treatment plans.
  • Assess children's individual care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of care to meet their mental health needs.
  • Complete and contribute to robust risk assessments and risk management plans, promoting positive risk taking to improve quality of life and occupational performance.
  • Maintain an effective reporting system, observing and reporting verbally and in writing on a child's conditions.
  • Contribute to and evaluate group programmes for children and young people within the Core Mental Health team.
  • Engage in and provide supervision for students and identified colleagues within the team.

Requirements
  • Health and Care Professions Council Registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Dip COT or Degree in Occupational Therapy, plus post-qualification knowledge and experience to postgraduate diploma level.
  • At least 1 year post-qualifying experience of working with patients with mental health needs.
  • Experience of working with children and young people.
