About the Role

CK Group is seeking a highly skilled Process Development Scientist to join their team at their site in Cornwall. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a salary up to £35,000 per annum.

Our client is a leading supplier of mineral-based specialty solutions, delivering high-value-added, functional solutions to various sectors. They draw on their understanding of applications, technological knowledge, and expertise in material science to deliver solutions by beneficiating their mineral resources, synthetic minerals, and formulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct laboratory bench-scale metallurgical and process chemistry test work.
  • Operate laboratory equipment safely, contribute to sustaining capital and improvement capital requests, log and record trial and analytical data, and provide technical reporting of bench-scale trial outcomes.
  • Perform basic maintenance and calibrations of laboratory equipment.
  • Manage the interpretation of data and technical deliverables of the team.
  • Provide technical expertise in process chemistry, laboratory processes, laboratory safety, and analytical methods.
  • Mitigate chemical hazards, including maintaining and updating COSHH records for laboratory chemicals.
  • Collect, prepare, dry, filter, split, crush, pulverize, pelletize, and perform pXRF testing on samples.
Requirements
  • Degree-level qualification in Chemistry or Earth Science.
  • Experience working in a process laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge of Lithium chemistries (desirable).
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards and COSHH regulations.
  • Working knowledge of process design for mineral and chemical processes.
  • Experience managing and developing others.
