Construction Management Lecturer

At GBS Global Applied Knowledge, we prioritize our team and recognize that our students are central to our mission. We believe in the transformative power of education and strive to broaden access to higher education for underrepresented groups.

We are currently looking for full-time lecturers to deliver courses related to Construction Management. Flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings, and weekends is essential.

Please note that this position does not qualify for visa sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities

Overview of Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess student assignments, ensuring all learning objectives are achieved.
  • Develop, revise, and enhance course materials as necessary.
  • Employ diverse teaching methods and materials, including live online instruction.
  • Participate in meetings to contribute to decision-making and foster collaborative relationships within various teams.
  • Engage in staff development initiatives and peer evaluations.
  • Stay informed about student support services to provide comprehensive guidance to our learners.
  • Participate in the GBS performance management program, achieving defined objectives related to student outcomes, satisfaction, retention, and attendance.
  • Perform administrative tasks as agreed with your supervisor.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as needed to support GBS operations.
Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • An honors degree in construction management, project management, or a related field; a Master's degree in a relevant subject area is required, and a PhD or equivalent professional experience is preferred.
  • A Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or a commitment to enroll in a teaching program during the probationary period and complete it within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent).
  • Previous experience lecturing similar courses.
  • Experience supervising student work and providing constructive feedback.
  • Familiarity with teaching in the broader subject area.
  • Experience with distance learning and supporting students both online and in-person.
  • Professional demeanor in all interactions with staff and students.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant subject matter.
  • A strong commitment to personal and professional growth.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
  • Ability to maintain organized and thorough student records.
  • Capacity to work under pressure, effectively plan, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Highly motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to engage with diverse groups of individuals.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience in teaching construction management with a focus on building information modeling (BIM) and digital technologies relevant to construction at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels or relevant professional experience.
  • Experience facilitating computer-aided design workshops.
  • Experience in designing or developing academic or professional education programs or equivalent.
  • Full membership of CIOB or an equivalent professional body.
