Smiths Detection is a leading provider of detection equipment in the transportation, military, and other markets. We are seeking a skilled Programme Data Controller to join our team in Hemel Hempstead.
Job SummaryThe Programme Data Controller will be responsible for managing sales forecasting processes and programme accounting for the NW Europe region. This includes maintaining rolling monthly forecasts, staying up-to-date on programme developments, and ensuring accurate revenue recognition.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the maintenance of rolling monthly forecasts for Order Intake and Revenue, looking forward 18 months for the NW Europe market.
- Stay current on programme developments, sales, and operations to ensure forecasts, budgets, and programme accounting are updated accordingly.
- Flag significant issues to NW Europe market management and explain movements in forecasts and differences vs. actual numbers booked.
- Manage IFRS15 issues related to programmes, ensuring accounting and forecast accuracy.
- Review programme balances (WIP, deferred revenue, unbilled) monthly, raising accruals or other entries as necessary.
- Prepare weekly KPIs for Market Head and monthly Market Review presentations and data submissions to Divisional HQ.
- Support the UK Financial Controller with commercial variance explanations for internal reporting and external audit purposes.
- Develop and maintain close working relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure good communication and understanding of issues.
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
- Good knowledge or experience of IFRS standards, especially IFRS15 accounting for programmes.
- Experience in commercial sales forecasting and analysis for decision-making.
- Commercially astute and experienced in working in an international, matrix environment.
- Professional, succinct, and confident communicator to senior leadership.
- Good MS Office/Excel, SAP, and management information systems (Oracle EPBCS) skills.
- Detailed knowledge of SAP programme accounting; WBS structures, ZPLANS, and reporting.
