We are currently seeking a Principal Planning Specialist to join our esteemed Planning division within the Estates Team at our Norwich office.

The Estates Team at Norse Group comprises seasoned property experts who have been offering planning, estates, and asset management services for over 25 years. As a strategic partner to various Local Authorities, we operate through a joint venture model, delivering tailored services across multiple contract types to effectively meet our clients' needs.

The Planning division is composed of Chartered Town Planners, and the Principal Planning Specialist will report directly to the Associate Director of Planning. This role involves providing case-specific planning and development guidance on a daily basis to both colleagues and clients, as well as managing and nurturing team members while fostering relationships with existing and prospective clients. The Principal Planning Specialist will also contribute to larger collaborative projects within the Group, adhering to our core values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage various projects within the timelines and briefs established by clients.
  • Deliver effective planning and development advice to clients.
  • Ensure high-quality outputs while maximizing development potential and optimizing site value to fulfill client requirements.
  • Assess the planning potential of sites, identifying opportunities and constraints while evaluating development possibilities.
  • Develop specific planning and development schemes, advocating for these through the planning process to align with client needs.
  • Submit relevant planning applications, manage appeals, and negotiate on planning obligations and agreements as necessary.
  • Conduct development appraisals, planning briefs, and master plans for land and buildings, preparing schemes to enhance development potential and deliver optimal value for clients.
  • Assist in identifying and realizing new business opportunities, particularly in planning services.
  • Achieve a fee-earning target of 90% while contributing to the attainment of business objectives and goals.
  • Perform any additional duties relevant to the role as required.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Professional Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of significant relevant experience post-qualification.
  • Familiarity with pertinent construction, health, and safety legislation, including associated risks and hazards.
  • A current CSCS site card or willingness to obtain one.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A valid UK Driving Licence.
