Due to an internal advancement, we are seeking to appoint a Principal Planning Specialist within the Planning division of our Estates Team based in Norwich.

The Estates Team at Norse Group comprises seasoned property experts who have been providing planning, estate, and asset management services for over 25 years. As a strategic partner to numerous Local Authorities, we deliver our services through various contractual frameworks, with a focus on understanding and fulfilling our clients' needs.

The Planning division is made up of Chartered Town Planners, and the Principal Planning Specialist will report directly to the Associate Director of Planning. This role involves offering tailored planning and development guidance daily to both colleagues and clients, alongside managing and nurturing team members while fostering relationships with existing and prospective clients. The Principal Planning Specialist will also contribute to larger collaborative projects within the Group, adhering to our core values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage caseloads effectively while adhering to client timelines and briefs.
  • Deliver comprehensive planning and development advice to clients.
  • Ensure outputs meet high-quality standards and strive to enhance site development potential to align with client objectives.
  • Assess site opportunities and constraints to identify planning potential.
  • Develop specific planning and development proposals and advocate for these through the planning process to satisfy client needs.
  • Submit relevant planning applications, manage appeals, and negotiate on planning obligations as necessary.
  • Conduct development appraisals, planning briefs, and master plans for land and buildings, preparing schemes to maximize development potential and value for clients.
  • Assist in identifying and realizing new business opportunities with a focus on planning services.
  • Achieve a fee-earning target of 90% while contributing to the overall business objectives and targets.
  • Perform any additional duties relevant to the role.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Professional Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of significant relevant experience post-qualification.
  • Familiarity with pertinent construction, health, and safety regulations.
  • A current CSCS site card or willingness to obtain one.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A valid UK Driving Licence.
