Overview: The Warhead Engineering division at AWE is seeking dedicated Laboratory Operations Managers with expertise in Engineering or Applied Science.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide essential technical support to facilitate engineering laboratory functions through the establishment, operation, and upkeep of necessary technical resources.
  • Utilize your knowledge and skills to manage daily laboratory operations across multiple complex facilities, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and quality standards while addressing technical challenges to maintain laboratory accessibility.
  • Supervise and enhance the capabilities of assigned laboratories in alignment with user requirements, including the upgrade or acquisition of new equipment.
  • Apply technical expertise to optimize the performance of laboratory instruments, independently resolving equipment issues while seeking assistance when needed.
  • Share responsibility with functional and facility management for the designation of authorized laboratory personnel.
  • Report and assist in managing any unusual incidents and emergency situations, collaborating with First Aiders and Supervisors to ensure the laboratory is restored to a safe state before resuming operations.


Key Contributions:

  • Support specialized laboratory functions.
  • Oversee training, competency assessments, and approvals for safe laboratory operations.
  • Manage capital investments related to laboratory equipment.
  • Proactively maintain laboratory capabilities, ensuring they are ready for scheduled use, including procurement, maintenance, calibration, and process evaluations.


Qualifications:

  • Experience in a laboratory setting with strong communication abilities.
  • A proven history of delivering results, enhancing performance, and fostering continuous improvement, along with a solid understanding of financial and business considerations.
  • Capability to provide technical insights within your area of expertise and effectively resolve technical issues.
