Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Staff Nurse to join our team at the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC). As a key member of our senior nursing team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the high standards of care that we pride ourselves on.

About the Role

The Inpatient Ward (D603) is a 26-bedded adult combined Oncology and Haematology unit, specialising in chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiotherapy treatments. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to our patients, including those with complex needs.

Main Responsibilities
  • Act as a clinical expert, providing specialist knowledge and advice to nurses and junior medical staff.
  • Work towards safe and timely discharge plans, identifying and addressing barriers to discharge.
  • Support the nursing team, promoting best clinical and professional practice.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Participate in recruitment and staff development reviews, facilitating orientation and training programmes.
  • Represent the ward at local and wider meetings.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Registered Nurse Level 1 qualification.
  • Current NMC Registration.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Relevant post-registration experience in nursing and speciality.
  • Proven leadership and management experience.
  • Commitment to teaching and mentoring.
