Since 2014, DNEG's Feature Animation division has collaborated with filmmakers and IP owners to produce high-end animated feature films. Currently engaged in the production of major animated projects, we are seeking exceptional talent to join our expanding team.
The Role: Character TD
As a Character TD, you will play a crucial role in bringing captivating characters, creatures, props, and vehicles to life. You will collaborate closely with Rigging Supervisors and Animation Leads/Supervisors to develop innovative rigging solutions that meet the specific needs of each project.
Responsibilities:- Design and implement animation rigs for characters, creatures, props, and vehicles using Maya.
- Develop proprietary tools to enhance the rigging process when necessary.
- Collaborate with Rigging Supervisors and Animation Leads/Supervisors to determine the most effective rigging approaches.
- Possess a deep understanding of human and animal anatomy, as well as the fundamental laws of physics.
- Demonstrate proficiency in linear algebra and fundamental animation principles.
- Proven experience in character/creature rigging for significant projects.
- Thorough knowledge of your area of specialization within character rigging (e.g., body, face, mechanical rigs).
- Full working knowledge of Maya.
- Comfort with technical aspects of character/creature work and strong visual and artistic skills.
- Familiarity with pipeline issues and a typical character/creature-heavy post-production environment.
- Extensive understanding of human and animal anatomy.
- Understanding of the fundamental laws of physics.
- Proficiency in mathematics (linear algebra).
- Fundamental animation knowledge.
- Programming or scripting skills (e.g., MEL, Python, C++) are beneficial but not essential.
You are a highly motivated and collaborative individual with excellent communication skills. You thrive in a team environment and possess a strong work ethic. Your ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage your time effectively is essential for success in this role.
