Are you an experienced educator passionate about supporting young individuals facing mental health challenges?
Five Education Recruitment Limited is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Specialist Teacher to engage with students exhibiting Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and various behavioral difficulties. This role is situated within a specialist Alternative Provision school.
The students you will work with may struggle with SEMH issues, including anxiety and depression, and some may have encountered Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). A number of these children have received diagnoses of Autism. Additionally, they may have medical requirements linked to their special educational needs and mental health.
Applicants should possess a proven track record of teaching in a Pupil Referral Unit or a comparable environment. Confidence in managing challenging behaviors and a resilient disposition are essential. Establishing a strong rapport with students who may be difficult to reach is crucial. Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant (TA) or Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) is advantageous, or you may be in the process of obtaining a teaching qualification.
Work Schedule: This position is for 5 days a week during term time, with hours from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The starting daily rate is £110, with potential for higher earnings based on relevant qualifications and experience. The workday consists of 7 hours, excluding an unpaid lunch break.
Key Responsibilities:
· Deliver engaging lessons tailored to children with SEMH needs, adhering to the curriculum while utilizing available resources.
· Facilitate access to the curriculum and adapt activities to meet individual learning levels.
· Create a fun and accessible learning environment.
· Provide support to students during challenging moments, helping them to remain calm and focused.
Essential Qualifications:
· Two years of references, one of which must be from a role involving children or vulnerable adults (recent and can include volunteer work).
· A valid DBS/Police check.
· Availability to work 5 days a week.
What We Offer:
· An exceptional supply experience in the South West, as reflected in our positive reviews.
· Complimentary specialized training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, PMLD/SLD Awareness, Autism Awareness, and more.
· Subsidized initial DBS costs (we cover £20, you cover £30, refunded after completing 5 days of work).
· Ongoing specialist support and mentoring during your employment.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff to share this commitment. Successful candidates will undergo thorough vetting, including reference checks and a DBS check.
We encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, particularly from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates, as they are currently under-represented in this field.
