Position Overview:
As a Sustainability Engagement Officer, you will play a pivotal role within one of Northern Ireland's prominent public organizations. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the Head of Safety and Corporate Responsibility in coordinating various elements of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives, as well as Health and Safety (H&S) standards, ensuring a consistent and progressive approach to these critical areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • ESG Literacy Development: Foster and enhance carbon and broader ESG awareness and culture throughout the organization, collaborating with external partners to deliver top-tier training programs.
  • Compliance Management: Support the implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure adherence to ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and related standards.
  • Awards Coordination: Oversee the internal responsible business awards program and other employee engagement initiatives, driving continuous improvement.
  • Register Management: Coordinate and enhance the Environmental Aspects and Impacts Register, Safety Risk Register, Compliance Register, and Materiality Assessment registers.
  • Corporate Responsibility Initiatives: Develop, manage, and continuously improve the corporate responsibility register of initiatives.
  • Benchmarking Submissions: Prepare submissions for benchmarking and awards to accurately assess organizational performance.
  • Data Management: Oversee the drug and alcohol program, improving data management and reporting to ensure risk assurance.
  • Performance Reporting: Coordinate the generation of periodic performance reports.
  • KPI Development: Collaborate with the Systems and Performance Lead and team managers to establish meaningful lead and lag key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Dashboard Development: Contribute to the creation and enhancement of a dashboard that tracks ESG performance and progress towards targets.
  • Document Control: Develop and maintain a document control process that standardizes documentation for the team, utilizing modern techniques for effective management.
  • Process Improvement: Create process diagrams that accurately reflect business practices and inform continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside managers and internal communication resources to enhance the collection, documentation, and promotion of positive ESG performance.

Qualifications:
Experience in planning and executing employee engagement programs and coordinating events is essential. Candidates must meet applicable medical standards and be willing to travel for meetings and site visits.
