This position offers a unique opportunity for 10 PA's within a dedicated role.

The successful candidate will deliver specialized outpatient and consultation services to children and adolescents up to the age of 18 within a community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). You will collaborate with a team of three other Consultant professionals and engage with various agencies, including local authorities and pediatric services.

Role Overview:
The Consultant will provide a comprehensive mental health service to young individuals. You will oversee a diverse group of children and adolescents facing a range of mental health challenges. As part of a multidisciplinary team, your responsibilities will include direct clinical engagement, supervision, management of referrals, and effective collaboration with relevant departments, alongside local strategic management tasks as necessary. Strong clinical leadership and communication skills are essential, along with a genuine interest and experience in working with this age group.

Job Duties:

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver psychiatric services to children and adolescents.
  2. Engage in direct clinical work and provide guidance to the multidisciplinary team while partnering with other organizations.
  3. Manage a caseload with clinical accountability.
  4. Facilitate a needs-based collaboration with adult psychiatric services.
  5. Work innovatively with external agencies involved with children and adolescents.
  6. Provide clinical oversight to junior medical personnel as needed.
  7. Contribute to the ongoing development of the CAMHS.
  8. Comply with all relevant safeguarding policies and procedures.
  9. Collaborate closely with fellow CAMHS Consultants and multidisciplinary staff.
Candidate Profile:

Health Requirements:

Essential:
  • Good overall health.
  • Satisfactory Occupational Health assessment prior to appointment.
Desirable:
  • Professional appearance.
Qualifications:

Essential:
  • Full GMC Registration.
Desirable:
  • Published research and MRCPsych.
Professional Qualifications:

Essential:
  • CCT in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry or nearing completion.
  • Section 12 Approval under the Mental Health Act 1983 or eligibility for approval.
  • Demonstrated competency in the PMETB approved curriculum for higher training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Registered for Continuing Professional Development with the RCPsych.
Desirable:
  • Additional postgraduate qualifications (e.g., MSc, MD).
  • Experience with the Mental Health Act.
  • Specialized areas of interest and expertise.
Location and Mobility:

  • Residency within ten road miles of the primary workplace.
