About the Role

We are seeking two highly skilled and experienced Non-Executive Directors to join our Board of Directors at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust. As a Non-Executive Director, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our Trust and contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide constructive challenge and support to the Chief Executive and Executive Directors to ensure effective decision-making and governance.
  • Seek assurance over the performance of the Trust, including quality, finance, and operational matters.
  • Develop positive relationships with the Council of Governors and other stakeholders to promote the interests of the Trust.
  • Embodies the values of the Trust and its clinically-led and management-supported philosophy.

Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust provides a wide range of acute, community, and older people's mental health services to our local community and beyond. We employ over 5,100 people and have an annual turnover of around £400 million. Key Skills and Experience
  • Clinical qualification or sound knowledge of NHS finance.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to understand complex strategic issues.
  • Sound knowledge of corporate governance and ability to work with senior leaders in the NHS.
  • Clear understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, liabilities, and responsibilities of Non-Executive Directors.
