About the Role

We are seeking two highly skilled and experienced Non-Executive Directors to join our Board of Directors at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust. As a Non-Executive Director, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our Trust and contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide constructive challenge and support to the Chief Executive and Executive Directors to ensure effective decision-making and governance.
  • Seek assurance over the performance of the Trust and provide strategic guidance to the Board.
  • Develop positive relationships with the Council of Governors and support Governor colleagues in holding Non-Executive Directors to account.
  • Embodies the values of the Trust and its clinically-led and management-supported philosophy.

Key Requirements
  • Clinical qualification or sound knowledge of NHS finance.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to understand complex strategic issues.
  • Sound knowledge of corporate governance and clear understanding of the legal duties, liabilities, and responsibilities of Non-Executive Directors.
  • Board-level experience and ability to work with and influence senior leaders in the NHS.
