Compensation:
£35,000 - £40,000 (commensurate with experience)

Our client, a prominent machinery manufacturer, employs a dedicated team of approximately 70 professionals at their state-of-the-art design and engineering facility.

All aspects of panel construction, wiring, and PLC programming are conducted in-house, with specialized departments focusing on pneumatics, mechanical systems, machining, assembly, commissioning, and documentation.

We are seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer to create mechanical designs and drawings for our systems and equipment, collaborating within a compact team of design engineers under the supervision of the Drawing Office Manager.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing conveyor systems and ductwork
  • General mechanical design tasks (e.g., sensor brackets and equipment mounting)

Candidates should possess:

  • Experience in mechanical design within an industrial setting
  • Recognized engineering qualifications or apprenticeship

Additional qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of conveyor system design
  • Understanding of airflow and ductwork design principles
  • Awareness of safety standards relevant to equipment design

Responsibilities also encompass:

  • Generating manufacturing drawings and equipment layouts, along with necessary mechanical documentation (e.g., schedules, bills of materials, sub-assembly drawings, schematics)
  • Updating existing mechanical drawings and documentation in response to equipment upgrades or modifications
  • Serving as a liaison between the drawing office and mechanical technicians/sub-suppliers, ensuring accurate parts ordering and supply for assembly
  • Collaborating with the Drawing Office Manager to manage workload and ensure adherence to project timelines
  • Ensuring timely updates of all mechanical drawings throughout the project lifecycle, sharing with relevant departments, and maintaining correct revisions in the data management system
  • Assisting with additional tasks within the Drawing Office Department as needed, including inquiry drawings and site surveys

Comprehensive training will be provided to familiarize the successful candidate with specialized processes. The selected individual will also be eligible for a pension scheme and a range of attractive benefits.
