Position: Vineyard Worker

Location: Kent.

Compensation: £24,000 - £27,000 annually plus overtime opportunities.

Job Type: Permanent full-time role.

Working Hours: Monday - Thursday 8am - 4:30pm, Friday 8am - 3:30pm.

About the Company:

This vineyard estate is situated in the South East of England. Following a record harvest, the estate is expanding its cropping area in Kent to maximize the benefits of the local climate and soil conditions.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a motivated individual to become a vital part of our vineyard team in Kent.

As a senior member of the team, you will provide guidance and support under the direction of the Vineyard Supervisor, ensuring that daily tasks are completed according to specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure all tasks are performed as directed by the Supervisor or Management, providing training and support to fellow team members.
• Responsibilities include:
• Pruning and vine management - including leaf trimming, shoot thinning, and yield manipulation.
• Record keeping for spray applications.
• Trellis maintenance and vineyard establishment as needed.
• Ground management tasks such as weed control, mowing, and soil cultivation.
• Maintenance of machinery and overall site upkeep.

Under the Supervisor's guidance, you will also:

• Supervise agency staff while maintaining a professional demeanor.
• Assist with record keeping as requested by the Vineyard Supervisor.
• Provide coverage for the Vineyard Supervisor during their absence.
• Communicate updates to the Vineyard Manager/Viticulturist as necessary.
• Ensure adherence to proper procedures and offer guidance when needed.
• Report any issues that may impact vineyard operations to the Supervisor.
• Continuously seek improvements in quality, efficiency, and professionalism.
• Provide ongoing training and support to team members across various vineyard locations as needed.
• Perform additional duties as required by management.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

• A genuine interest in viticulture and vine management.
• A willingness to learn about UK vineyards and the growing industry.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Essential attributes include:
• Confidence in driving.
• Possession of PA1 & PA3 and/or telehandler qualifications is desirable.
• Effective communication skills.
• Good levels of English literacy and numeracy.
• Capability to follow instructions and work orders accurately.
• A clean and valid driving license with access to a vehicle during the workweek.
• A willingness to supervise and collaborate with agency staff.
