Salary: £57,000+ depending on experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Accountable for the planning, delivery and reporting of a range of audit and assurance assignments against the organisation’s key risks
  • Play a critical role in assessing the design and effectiveness of controls in order to minimise risk and enhance business performance, whilst maintaining ethical business conduct and protecting the reputation of the organisation
  • Raise recommendations in audit reports to address observations and weaknesses identified through audit fieldwork, and summarising the audit findings in an audit report
  • As a primary interface to one of the businesses you could attend quarterly Audit Review Board meetings along with the Management Committee members and the senior Internal Audit leadership
  • The audit reports you prepare, will be written for, and read by, the Business Leadership and the Executive Committee of BAE Systems plc

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Technical capability derived from experience in Finance
  • Hold a professional qualification demonstrating knowledge and expertise in Finance (ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent)
  • Past experience of managing audits, ideally trained in auditing
  • Analytical skills with the ability to analyse complex issues
  • Ability to write concise, professional and accurate management reports that deliver the key messages
  • Capability to review, document and understand complex systems or processes
  • Ability to understand the usage of data within the business, and using appropriate techniques and tools, draw appropriate conclusions

Desirable

  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualification with finance background/experience
  • Understanding of the changes to corporate governance and reporting, with respect to the UK Corporate Governance Code 2024, specifically in relation to Provision 29 relating to risk management and internal controls framework

The Audit team:

This role sits within the Global Internal Audit team within the Head Office, this team consists of approx. 30 people with Audit Director, Head of Audit, Senior Audit Managers, Audit Manager and Auditors, with team members based in UK, US, Saudi Arabia, and Australia. You will be engaging with senior stakeholders across the organisation, whilst working on various audit assignments.
