North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT) Research & Innovation (R&) department are looking to recruit a key post as a Research Systems Administrator. The role provides technical maintenance and support service for users of Research systems at NBT[DN1]. The postholder will support the design, development, and validation of research databases, and provide training and support to users. The postholder will also support the development of databases within R&I aimed at enhancing the oversight and management of research activity.

The postholder will also provide support for the Avon cap study, which is a large prospective surveillance study, designed to capture all patients admitted with acute respiratory disease, and is part of The Pfizer Centre of Excellence for Vaccine-preventable Disease Epidemiology. The post holder will be responsible for maintaining the research database, ensuring accurate and secure data collection. They will oversee data management and transfer processes. Additionally, the post holder will develop and undertake data extraction from clinical software systems in to the research database.

The post holder will have experience of research experience, research databases or other related experience, as well as being a highly motivated and organised person.

- Perform a range of support maintenance functions including designing, building, testing, and maintaining research database systems.
- Perform tasks to support the development of research databases within the Research & Development department
- Take ownership of issues relating to research databases
- To actively participate in the R&I Support function, advising on and monitoring the use of the research database systems
- Adhere to Trust policies & procedures including those related to data protection and security
- Assist in Data Quality to ensure maintenance of research databases are completed in a timely fashion and to a high level of accuracy
- Acquire knowledge of Research policies and procedures to understand the impact of maintenance of the database systems
- Maintenance of user’s accounts and their deletion in line with the Trust's Data Security Policy
- Provide on-going support to users both face to face and on the telephone - Assist in the production of documentation to support Back Office process, including the change control mechanism
- Assist the Research & Development team and approved stakeholders in implementing system
- Performing system management tasks to main the integrity of research database systems and the data held within it
- Attend training sessions, as required, maintaining and improving the post holders skills.

- Extensive knowledge is required to ensure correct access to research databases and systems
- An understanding and appreciation of how different directorates work within the North Bristol Trust, and the role of Research & Development
- To be able to transfer new skills and knowledge to colleagues
- Using specialist knowledge and experience able to offer practical solutions to end users
- Knowledge of current working practises and procedures within the trust
- A sound general knowledge of testing principals
- Extensive knowledge of the Trusts EPR system and other IT systems
- Detailed knowledge of Change Control mechanisms within systems management
- Knowledge of NHS Data Protection policies
- Basic knowledge of the regulatory framework for clinical trials

Experience
- Experience of solving complicated system issues
- Experience of working effectively with a range of stakeholders
- Be able to work collaboratively with the wider Research & Development department and approved stakeholders to support problem solving
