**Salary**: Dependent on contract - £23,808 pro rata

**Job Brief**

The Mindful Life Counselling CIC is a registered not for profit organisation offering mentoring, counselling, psychotherapy, mindfulness, bespoke training and workshops. We are a group of mental health, teaching and coaching professionals supporting adults, young people and children to access a diverse range of mental health support which we offer in a variety of settings. We are based at the well-appointed Elysia Centre in Stourbridge’s old quarter and provide services across the Black Country and Birmingham.

**The Children and Young Person’s Wellbeing Mentor Role**

The post holder will deliver one to one mentoring and group work as directed to children and young people between the ages of 11 and 16. The work will be carried out in a variety of educational and organisational settings across the West Midlands. The post holder will be able to record accurate case notes and carry out wellbeing impact measurements with all children and young people. The individual will have excellent communication skills and knowledge of emotional wellbeing and safeguarding, with the ability to manage their workload effectively to ensure the smooth running of the service.

The role requires the post holder to uphold Mindful Life Counselling CIC’s policies and procedures.

**Job Brief**
- Provide wellbeing support to children and young people, providing high quality, age-appropriate interventions
- Deliver small group work on topics as directed
- Deliver and support delivery of workshops and training as directed
- A thorough understanding of safeguarding in line with organisational policy, with any issues to be brought to the attention of the Designated Safeguarding Lead at Mindful Life Counselling CIC immediately
- To be responsible for case notes stored confidentially and safely using the organisational systems in place
- Completion of impact measurement forms, maintaining accurate and up to date records in line with organisational policies and procedures
- To undertake additional administrative duties from time to time including data input
- To develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with organisational staff
- Liaise with parents/carers and other professionals where applicable
- Carry out any client administrative tasks such as case notes and scheduling
- Remain compliant to Mindful Life Counselling CIC policies and procedures
- To represent the organisation positively and being committed as part of a team to providing high quality mentoring support
- Contact immediately the Administration Manager to report any absences or changes to availability

- Full driving licence with willingness to use own vehicle
- Willingness to cover a geographical area
- Hold a relevant qualification
- Eligibility to work with children and young people
- Eligibility to work in the UK

Person Spec:
Holds a relevant qualification

Knowledge or qualification in working with children and young people

Knowledge or qualification working with music, art, play, metaphor or other creative methods

Demonstrates experience of working directly with CYP on both one-to-one and a group basis whilst maintaining confidentiality

Demonstrates knowledge of the educational environment

A clear understanding of child protection policy and procedures and commitment to the safeguarding of children

Provision of wellbeing workshops

Has a knowledge of children’s social / behavioural milestones

Willingness to communicate with parent/carers and professionals

Shows a commitment to continuous professional learning

Is pro-active in reporting safeguarding issues and concerns to designated safeguarding leads and line management, in accordance with organisational and Mindful Life Counselling CIC policy and procedures

Continues to keep up-to-date with safeguarding policy and developments

Builds relationships through effective communication and is representative of the organisation, committed to its ethos

Establishes and sustains positive working relationships with Mindful Life Counselling CIC, organisational staff, CYP, parents and carers

If working within the school setting, understands the student support/pastoral care system, SENCo role and any other support staff responsible for wellbeing

Communicates effectively and appropriately with relevant organisational staff and Mindful Life Counselling CIC staff

Actively participates in Mindful Life Counselling CIC meetings

Demonstrates competency to use Microsoft Office suite and other virtual platforms
