To provide quality & accurate administration & clerical support to the Community Dental Service (CDS).

To maintain accuarate accounts from the collection of dental charges & prepare banking.

Call handle for our continuing care patients as well as unregistered patients seeking urgent dental treatment. Provide information to patients regarding dental care, charges & exemptions

Use our bespoke dental software to ensure accurate records are kept & clinics are booked appropriately.

Possibility of the role becoming permanent.

Book clinical lists for all sites.

Provide accuate information and advice about dental services and access to NHS dental care.

Ascertain whether patients should pay NHS charges or if they are in receipt of relevant benefits that make them exempt from charges. Collect dental charges, keep acuate financial records and bank payments. Take responsibility for the securiety of monies.

Obtain sensitive personal, social and medical information often of a complex nature. Often this will be with interpreters, with patients who have learning disabilities, patients who have visual and/or auditory impairments, have communication difficluties or cannot read or write.

Care for and maintain reception equipment.

The Community Dental Team are a small but progressive team who value their workforce. Our primary role is is to help people with additional needs overcome barriers so they may access dental care. Patients are referred to us from other social and healthcare professionals to obtain urgent or on-going dental provision. We have clinics in Torquay, Newton Abbot, Mobile Dental Unit, day surgery at Torbay Hospital and domicillary care.
- Provide information and advice about dental services and access to NHS dental care.
- Ascertain whether patients pay charges or whether they have a relevant exemption that makes them exempt.
- Collect dental charges. Keep accurate financial records and bank payments.
- Obtain personal, social and medical information often of a complex nature. Often with interpreters, people with learning disabilities, communication difficulties, auditory or visual impairment or cannot read or write.
- Communicate effectively and with tact and diplomacy to a number of disciplines. Patients, carers, parents, GPs, GDPs, medical and dental staff to name but a few.
- To provide administrative support to the service.
- Manage your own time and prioritise your workload, often working to strict deadlines in relation to meeting government standards and timescales.
- Reports Incidents and complaints to the Service manager and on Datix
- Actively participate in peer review and governance activities to ensure that the highest standards of patient care and business conduct are in place. This ensures that the CDS operates in an effective, honest and open way.
- Manages and maintains the dental software system which records patient's notes, waiting lists, databases and the appointment system.
- Organises daily tasks and activities, including maintaining the appointment system to make optimim use of clinical time. Operating and maintaining the recall and waiting lists.
- Ensure the safe transfer of confidential information between staff members.
- Ensure the safe storage of confidential information in a paper or electronic format.
