Full time (36.5 hours per week) fixed term contract until 14 June 2024.

You will join the WMS Health and Wellbeing unit team to work on an exciting project developing a population-level sleep and mental health intervention for shift-workers in the workplace, designing and co-producing a programme with various stakeholders. You will work closely with other WMS research groups, colleagues from across the University of Warwick campus, and numerous external partners (including commercial and community organisations). You will be an active member of the research team and as such be required to take a leading role in facilitating co-production workshops with lived experience groups, businesses and charities. You will also help refine protocols, gain ethical approval, collect and analyse data, draft reports and contribute to scientific publications and bid writing.

You will possess a good honours degree (ideally 2.1 or above) in psychology or related discipline and a PhD in a relevant field. You will need to evidence experience of research in a field related to mental health and wellbeing. Experience in the areas of behavioural sleep medicine and / or intervention development is highly desirable. You will have potential to develop, deliver and publish high quality research and generate external funding to support the research projects.

If you are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD but have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant at the top of level 5 of the University grade structure (£32,411). Upon receipt of evidence of the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of level 6 of the University grade structure (£33,348).

**JOB PURPOSE**

You will be working on an exciting project to develop a new sleep and mental health intervention for shift workers in the workplace. This will involve development of the intervention components based on sleep science and the latest literature and practice, including determining a theory of change/logic model for the intervention. You will also work closely with shift workers and their employers to develop and refine the intervention, ensuring that the finished product is acceptable and feasible to deliver. You will work closely with other WMS researchers, colleagues from across the University of Warwick campus, and external commercial and community partners. You will be an active member of the research team and as such be required to take a leading role in facilitating co-production workshops with lives experience groups, businesses and charities. You will also help refine protocols, gain ethical approval, collect and analyse data, draft reports and contribute to scientific publications and bid writing.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Research and scholarship**

1. Help establish a sound research base within the department in order to assist
the development of research objectives and proposals for own or joint research.
2. Conduct collaborative research project and oversee all aspects of the project.
3. Facilitate co-production workshops with stakeholders.
5. Write up research work for publication.
8. Present information on research progress and outcomes to academic and non-academic audiences.
9. Contribute to the preparation of reports and papers.
10. Conduct literature and database searches.
11. Communicate complex information (orally and in writing) and material of a specialist or highly technical nature.
12. Continually update own knowledge and understanding in field or specialism.

**Administration and Other Activities**

1. May be required to attend departmental meetings and to participate (where
necessary) in other committees and working groups within the department, the
faculty and the University.
2. Ensure compliance with health and safety in all aspects of work.
3. Work within budget constraints.
